6th International Symposium on Organofluorine Compounds in Biomedical, Materials and Agriculture Sciences
CONCEPT AND FORMAT OF THE NANJING FLUORINE DAYS

It is our pleasure to announce that the 6th International Symposium on Organofluorine Compounds in Biomedical, Materials and

Agriculture Sciences (“Nanjing FluorineDays”), will be held in Nanjing, China, from May 20-24, 2018. This symposium follows the
successful editions held in Perugia, Italy (2001 and 2010), in Valencia, Spain (2012), in Bordeaux, France (2014) and  Bremen,
Germany (2016).

The unique properties of the fluorine atom and carbon-fluorine bonds have made that the study of fluorinated organic chemicals
is nowadays a major research topic in both academia and industry laboratories. Organofluorine chemistry is a very active
research field which finds important applications in the design of new pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, polymers, surfactants or
 radiochemicals, amongst others.

The aim of the Nanjing FluorineDays is to provide an overview of current directions in all aspects of organic fluorine chemistry.
The Symposium is addressed primarily to scientists of the “Organofluorine Community”, although it will also open to those
interested in the potential of fluorine in their own research. An attendance of 130-150 chemists is expected, and the scientific
program will include plenary lectures (35 min), invited lectures (25 min) and poster presentations. A social program, highlighting
the cultural and geographical heritage of the city of Nanjing, will be organized for the conference attendees and accompanying

persons.
